FAQs
For Those Seeking Support
Do I have to be sober to participate?
No. You are welcome whether you are sober, curious, actively using, or somewhere in between. We believe you don’t have to be sober to be sacred.
Will I be forced into a treatment program?
Never. Our model is consent-based, and we do not accept court-ordered clients. Healing must be chosen, not mandated.
Can I bring my supplies with me?
While we honor your choices, our physical locations are substance-free zones. To keep our doors open and safe for everyone, no substances may be consumed, handled, or brought on-site.
For the Recovery Community
How does this work with my 12-Step program?
We honor the lineage of traditional recovery models. ABY is designed to be a middle ground that complements other paths by focusing on spiritual connectivity, creative expression, and relational healing.
Is this “spiritual bypassing”?
No. Our principles specifically reject spiritual bypassing and the denial of reality. We encourage participants to remain grounded in accountability, self-awareness, and present-moment responsibility.
For Healthcare & Clinical Professionals
Is A Beautiful You a licensed rehab?
No. We are a holistic healing sanctuary, not a rehab facility or licensed treatment provider. We move away from the Clinical-Industrial Complex toward a Relational-Dignity framework.
How do you handle mental health needs?
While we don’t “treat” participants, we provide access to clinicians for those who want culturally competent mental health care within our healing framework.
Is your framework evidence-based?
Our model is trauma-informed, and pilot results showed an average mood increase of +0.71 after a single 45 minute session on a 5-point Likert scale. We focus on measurable changes in emotional regulation and social connection.
For Systems Administrators & Funders
How does this address the overdose epidemic?
By removing barriers like shame and rigid rules, we reach the 80% of people who currently avoid traditional systems. We provide harm reduction tools as practical acts of self-love to keep people alive, connected, and engaged.
What is the cost-benefit of this model?
Our Displays of Dignity model costs approximately $700 per participant, offering a cost-effective alternative to high-cost clinical interventions that often struggle with retention.
What are your retention rates?
Because we prioritize participant privacy and do not track individual attendance linked to personal information, we measure success through intent to return. Based on our post-class evaluations, 94% of our participants indicate they intend to return for future sessions.
